Free Chlorine (OCL– + HOCL) can be measured by the LiquID and is the potent chlorine HOCl that is a very powerful disinfectant and is also the form that can contribute to the formation of trihalomethanes during dechlorination. In summary the Free Chlorine shows how much of the remaining chlorine will react to either kill E. coli or that will lead to trihalomethanes at dechlorination.
By monitoring both E. coli and Free Chlorine in real-time using LiquID, operators can optimize treatments to treat the actual E.coli load. This then reduces both the cost for the chlorine treatment and the dechlorination which potentially improves efficiency and saves money.
